About Denis
I am currently a student of Cyber Security at MMU, I chose my field because I love tinkering with systems to see how they work, and what will break them. I studied Physics, Computer Science and IT at A-LEVEL, and Computer Science at GCSE. When I started to learn programming I, like many, struggled with it immensely, but I was able to grasp a firm understanding with the help of a 1-1 teacher who was willing to show me a different approach he didn't typically use in his full room classes. From then on I kept reusing those principles to get to where I am now.
I chose to do tutoring because I think too many people miss out on what is possible, because no one stopped to show them the perspective they needed.

Programming is a vital tool for many fields, and as such GCSE and A-LEVEL Computer Sci and IT are very high in demand subjects. Naturally, this means many students will find themselves struggling to understand programming as a tool rather than as an exam requirement. But there is little to no reason it should be this way, programming may seem unintuitive at times, but it's a skill that can be approached from many sides.
Therefore I like to teach by understanding which perspective is best suited to the student, so they can use programming in their own way. Programming is the kind of skill where studying for the test won't get you the grade you want, but studying the tool will.
For practical reasons the sessions are 90 minutes.
It's important to bear in mind that there is no single correct way to do programming, even in an exam, the approach used to answer a question is left to the student to choose, and as long as the code produces the correct output, the marks are awarded.
