About Ella
I am an older sister of 3 and previously supported a year 8 English class. When I have time, I enjoy writing short illustrative passages based on prompts or images. I also enjoy Greek and Arthurian mythology, which I've actually found can be related to texts I have analysed, such as with Keats' poetry! My hobbies and interests reflect the same creativity, patience, and love for detail that draw me to English literature and creative writing. Baking and sewing require precision and imagination, while learning to crochet reminds me of the methodical process of building narratives, much like crafting a story or poem.

My lessons are fully adaptable to each student’s learning style, but typically focus on worked examples, building strong analytical and essay-writing skills, and responding effectively to creative writing prompts. I believe working with the student to develop the quality of their writing and provide a more methodical approach to answering essay questions allows the student to build confidence and critical thinking skills that are valuable far beyond the classroom. I have worked as a 1-1 tutor and with groups as a student mentor in year 8 and 11 classes, but am fully able to assist students from years 7 to 11. I am most familiar with AQA and Edexcel, and my sessions are typically an hour long, with occasional extra reading or essay practice set as homework to prepare for future sessions. I can provide comprehensive assistance across the subject, or can focus on key areas the student would like to improve or feel they are weaker in. Feel free to message me with any questions.
