I'm currently an elementary educator in a public school district in the role of a reading specialist. I specialize in a structured literacy approach which is grounded in the science of reading research. My lessons are designed for students in grades K-3 who are struggling to read--particularly having gaps in the area of phonics. A typical lesson will begin with spiral review of previously learned skills, repetition/practice of important phonics rules, followed by a brief introduction of the new skill being taught that day with a multi-sensory approach to practice it. There are various online platforms I will utilize to practice phonics skills that are interactive and engaging for students.
