My goal is to help students feel comfortable and confident while strengthening their academic skills. I understand that each student learns differently, so I like to adapt my teaching methods to meet each student where they are. My approach to teaching/tutoring is to be patient, encouraging, and personalized to help meet each student's needs. Students learn best when they are comfortable and are given the opportunity to learn in a way that makes sense to them. I like to use a combination of clear explanations, visuals, and hands-on projects.
A typical tutoring session will begin with a quick review of what the student already knows and then identifying any areas they may need additional support in. I, then, introduce or review the new skill with a step-by-step instruction and example. We will work through problems or activities together before the student practices independently.
What sets me apart is my experience in the classroom. I have worked in both an elementary and middle school classroom, as well as assisted in a high functioning SPED classroom. This has taught me how to break down difficult concepts and adjust my instruction based on the student's personal needs.
My services are best suited for elementary and middle school students who need additional help in completing assignments, academic support, reinforcement of classroom skills, or extra practice to strengthen their knowledge. I can provide support across all elementary and middle school subjects, with particular experience in science and social studies!
