About Cassandra

I am a dedicated tutor with a strong academic background and a passion for helping students succeed. Currently pursuing a Master’s in Museum Studies at the University of Glasgow and a graduate of Aurora University (2024), I bring experience teaching reading, writing, and comprehension at Lindamood-Bell, as well as tutoring English, history, and creative writing at the college level. I have worked with middle school, high school, college learners, helping them strengthen their literacy, writing skills, and subject-specific knowledge in a supportive and motivating environment.

About the lesson

My tutoring style is student-centred and adaptive, focusing on meeting each student where they are and building confidence through personalised instruction. I use a mix of structured skill-building and interactive discussion to strengthen comprehension, critical thinking, and written expression. I often use scaffolding techniques—breaking down complex tasks into manageable steps—while encouraging independent problem-solving so students can transfer skills to new contexts. A typical lesson lasts about 60 minutes, though I adjust the pacing and length depending on student needs and goals. Lessons usually begin with a brief check-in and review, followed by targeted practice on key skills, and end with reflection or reinforcement activities to solidify learning. I bring experience from teaching reading, writing, and comprehension at Lindamood-Bell (2025) and tutoring college-level English, history, and creative writing at Aurora University (2021–2024). This combination of structured, evidence-based literacy instruction and higher-level academic tutoring equips me to support a wide range of learners. My lessons are best suited for middle school through undergrad university-level students who want to improve in reading comprehension, essay writing, study skills, or subject-specific learning in English and history.
