About Alixanda
I'm a current medical/ surgical intern (B.Sc. & M.Sc. & MB. BCh. BAO) with a valid teaching certification. I have experience teaching and tutoring all grades (K - 12, University) and subjects, including exam prep and study skills. Learning and teaching have always been a large part of my life. When I was younger, I often struggled to complete schoolwork, which was incredibly frustrating until I was finally diagnosed with a learning disability (dyslexia). Being a student with a learning disability (LD) taught me to think outside of the box and pushed me to discover new ways to learn. Having an LD not only helped me understand my learning style but also allowed me to develop a specific teaching style. My experiences have given me the ability to empathize with students, especially those who require extra help. My primary aspiration is to use my journey as a learner to help others discover their learning styles and be the best teacher I can be.

Each student learns differently, and my goal would be to determine the best learning method for the person I'm tutoring. That way, sessions can be personalized, allowing the student to get the most out of the session. My recommendation would be for 45 min - 1hr sessions. This allows for optimal concentration and learning. Any longer sessions should include scheduled breaks. I'm happy to arrange both in-person and virtual sessions.

Alix is a fantastic tutor. We had a lot to cover and she provided accountability, support and extensive knowledge of the module. She is a great communicator and helped me to prepare for my exam by providing feedback and additional resources. Scheduling sessions was always flexible and Alix never had any problem with doing that little bit extra. I was really happy with the tutoring overall and would recommend to anyone who needs help in this area!
