About Mpho
I'm a Bachelor of Accounting Science student at the University of the Witwatersrand, having achieved final high school distinctions in Pure Mathematics, Information Technology, and Accounting. I currently tutor a small number of students in these subjects, and that recent experience with the syllabus means I still remember exactly where it tends to trip people up.
I take a professional approach to every lesson: well-prepared, punctual, and focused on making the most of your time. My priority is always understanding over cramming. When you understand the logic behind a concept, you can apply it to any problem the exam throws at you, not just the one you've memorized. Alongside this, I place a strong emphasis on past papers, since that's ultimately how you'll be assessed, and exam technique often makes the difference between a good mark and a great one.
Lessons start by pinpointing exactly what you're finding difficult. Depending on where you're at, we'll either rebuild foundational concepts step-by-step or move into past papers and exam strategy. I work through problems out loud so you see my full reasoning, not just the final answer, and every session ends with a clear takeaway for what to work on next.
I teach Pure Mathematics and Information Technology at high school level, in English, and I welcome students at any stage, whether you need patient, foundational support or are already strong and want to refine your technique for top marks.

My approach to tutoring focuses on understanding before memorization. I break down the logic behind each concept so students can apply it to new problems, not just recall a method. I also take a heavy approach on working on past papers rather than focusing on content, as that is what will be assessed in final examinations. As someone who recently went through the high school syllabus myself (with distinctions in both mathematics and information technology), I know exactly where students tend to get stuck and explain things in a way that addresses that directly.
I teach in English. A typical lesson starts with identifying what the student is struggling with, then either rebuilding shaky foundations step-by-step or moving into past papers and exam technique if the basics are solid. I think out loud as I solve problems so students see the reasoning, not just the answer, and each session ends with a clear takeaway for what to focus on next.
My lessons are aimed at high school students studying Pure Mathematics and Information Technology, whether they're behind and need patient foundational work, or already capable and looking to sharpen technique for top marks.
