About Tom
I hold a degree in Computer Science and am currently pursuing a Master’s in Data Science at the University of Bristol. Having worked through both rigorous academic curricula and hands-on software development, I have a deep, practical understanding of core computer science principles, programming in Python, and computational logic.
I teach because computer science is often presented in an overly dry or abstract way in classrooms, which can leave students feeling stuck or disengaged. Having navigated the UK exam system myself, I know how to translate intimidating topics—such as algorithms, data structures, and theory—into clear, manageable steps.
My goal is to help students build genuine problem-solving intuition, master exam techniques, and develop the confidence to write clean, effective code independently.

My tutoring is structured, practical, and tailored to the student's specific exam board (OCR, AQA, Edexcel) or personal goals. I break down complex theoretical concepts into intuitive ideas and focus heavily on active problem-solving rather than passive reading.
Whether preparing for GCSEs, tackling A-Level theory, or learning Python from scratch, sessions target core challenges:
Programming & Logic: Building genuine fluency in Python, object-oriented concepts, algorithms, and debugging strategies without relying on guesswork.
A-Level NEA Project Guidance: Structuring, designing, and coding the coursework project, ensuring students document and implement clean, mark-scheme-compliant architectures.
Exam Technique & Theory: Mastering tricky syllabus topics like Big-O notation, data structures (trees, stacks, queues), networking, and Boolean logic through past-paper questions and mark scheme breakdowns.
Lessons typically run for 60 minutes (with 90-minute options for intensive coursework or exam prep), delivered online via screen-share code environments or in person in Bristol. Open to GCSE, A-Level, and beginner university-level students.
