About Challena
I am a music teacher, composer, and arranger with 12 years experience working on my ARCT in Piano through the Royal Conservatory. I am proficient in several other instruments including but not limited to guitar, woodwinds, lap harp (zither), and ukulele. I have worked extensively with special needs students, and founded my own non-profit music and arts society to assist those with limited means or options to achieve their dreams. I was named Top Piano Teacher in 2016, and I am currently studying voice in an effort to expand my musical horizons.

My teaching style is to create a program of learning that suits the students needs, goals, and wants. I am comfortable using any piano or music method, or can create one. I have a solid track record for students succeeding at RCM exams, however my focus is on helping students become musicians that love their instrument and can play a variety of musical styles. I like to include improvising and composing/song writing as part of the lesson structure, and believe in celebrating progress. I like to use goal setting where the student has a set goal that is skill and age appropriate to help them see their weekly achievements.

Rates do not vary according to student skill level.
Flat travel fee of $10 extra within a 10KM radius for me to travel to the home
Will reschedule missed lessons provided 24 hours notice is received, less than 24 hours will result in fee being due but no makeup class given.
