About Jonathan

Hello, I'm a Musician, Composer, Teacher and Songwriter from Dewsbury, West Yorkshire. I have been successfully teaching people how to play guitar, piano, ukulele, and music in general for 5 years now.

Priding myself on my hardworking nature, I undertook an accelerated degree at the prestigious Leeds College of Music, completing a full degree in 2 years. I passed my Masters in Music Composition in 2016; I'd like to think of myself as dedicated and enthusiastic. My Primary instrument is Guitar, with experience on Hammond Organ and Piano. My main Genre is Blues/Rock although I like and teach various styles. In the past I have been fortunate to learn from industry greats such as Matt Warnock, Stuart McCallum, Steve ‘Roadrunner’ Walker and Keith Appleton. I continue to learn and strive for more knowledge.

Ever since the first time I taught my friend, I have always enjoyed giving lessons. My aim is to teach you whatever you want to know, whether its a simple song or a theory lesson. Each lesson is personalised to your taste to help you achieve your goals. My main aim is to make every lesson as fun and relaxed as it possibly can, breaking down concepts into easily digestible chunks.

I have also played in bands since I was sixteen, playing a wide variety of styles from 'Rock n Roll' to Punk. I'm currently playing in one cover band and an original band that's signed to a record label, gigging regularly; I believe this gives me an added advantage as I am constantly practicing my field of study.

Influence wise I love Eric Clapton, Andy Fairweather Low, The Rolling Stones, Mark Knopfler. I love old school Rhythm and Blues and have a liking for Soul, as well as more popular genres such as Rock and Modern Pop.

About the lesson

My aim is to teach you whatever you want to know, whether its a simple song or a theory lesson. I usually leave it up to the student to guide me on what they want to be taught, I find this keeps the lesson relevant and relaxed, thus meaning that each lesson is personalised to your own taste helping you achieve your goals quicker. I also aim to make every lesson as fun as it possibly can, breaking down concepts into easily digestible chunks. I do advise students on what they should know if they have a specific goal in mind for example grades or getting into music college.

- Travel time is charged out at £10 per hour.
- Anybody cancelling under 24hrs will be charged half of the lesson rate.
