About Joy
I am an award-winning producer, director, editor, and film production professor. My students have gone off to work in Hollywood studios, independent projects, advertising agencies, the corporate world, and as freelance entrepreneurs. I have three years with instructing online digital film production, photography, and theory courses, including but not limited to non-linear editing, producing, and color theory. I have over 10 years teaching in-person production classes. I place priority on practicing compassion for my students in regard to their mental health, and academic success.

My teaching approach is truly leading by example; bringing my past and current real-world experiences into my classroom. Students are most eager to learn that I am preparing them for practical career-related scenarios; everything including polishing a great demo reel, lighting a beautiful film set, emphasizing the importance of collaboration, interacting with clients, understanding how the story correlates with the audience, gaining investors, and everything else that makes it possible for a film to be ready to showcase with the hope of landing a distribution deal.
