About Lanikka

I am a college student pursing a degree in Social Work. Through this, I aim to spread my passion for helping others by empowering people and communities in need to improve their life situations. Also, I love writing due to the fact that I love words. Words have so much power as they can inspire, spark interest, change a persons mind, make people laugh, cry, angry etc. The words that one chooses is very important and since I am going into a field that requires a significant amount of patience, understanding , and advocacy, knowing how to use my words both verbally and written is very important. Words and sentences very much excites and motivates me to want to help others become better writers and improve their writing skills. Helping you also helps me to become a better writer.

About the lesson

My teaching method is to teach and give examples about essays, the proper construction of them, and to also guide the student(s) through the whole process.

When tutoring students on essay writing, I first start off with the basics of building an essay and then I transition to the actual writing of the essay. I start with focusing on the paper structure(MLA or APA style, font and font size, spacing, etc.), essay parts, brainstorming, main arguments, and topic sentence development. Then we focus on the rough draft, proper sentence structure, and grammar. Once this is completed, I proofread the rough draft and help the student to make any necessary corrections. Lastly, I help the student to construct a good thesis statement to finalize the essay.
