About Santiago
I am 20 years old and I go to college with hopes of becoming a lawyer one day. My Spanish background comes primarily from my father, who is from Spain. I grew up speaking Spanish with him in the house and constantly spoke it around family and Spanish-speaking friends. I study Spanish in college as one of my majors and frequently tutor other students on the side. Outside of Spanish, I enjoy reading, traveling, playing tennis, and studying geography (it has been a passion for me from a very young age).

My tutoring methods revolve largely around what works for the student; this is what I always ask at the beginning of a session. (How do you learn best?). Lesson plans would look something like the following, but would be subject to change based on how the student wants to learn.
- Warm up. Here we go over the past lesson, perform small talk in Spanish, and try and build comfort before the lesson.
- Introduction to new topic. This could be grammar, vocab, listening skills, or whatever the student needs. This is where the student is learning new things.
- Practicing new topic. The student now has the ability to practice what they just learned, and I would be giving them feedback at every step to help them improve.
- Learning games. This part of the lesson is up to the student, but something I have enjoyed doing in the past is doing learning games (such as memory, telephone, Simon says, and many more), which students really seem to enjoy, while also helping with their retention and engagement with topics.
- Wrap up. Here I summarize what we learned, I may quiz the student on one or two questions on what we learned, but most importantly, I would ask the student what would work better for them for the next time we meet and how I can better enhance their learning experience, because the best way for the student to learn is to learn how they learn best.
