About Maggie

My name is Maggie, and I am a dedicated freshman at the University of Georgia majoring in Biology on the pre-med track with a minor in Spanish. I am passionate about learning, teaching, and helping younger students feel confident in their academic abilities. I graduated with honors from Marist School, a rigorous and academically challenging high school where I developed strong study habits, a deep understanding of science, and a genuine appreciation for clear, effective learning. My academic background allows me to explain concepts in ways that are both accurate and easy for students to understand. Spanish has also been a meaningful part of my education for the past four and a half years. I completed a Spanish exchange program, where I was immersed in the language and encouraged to speak only Spanish. While I am not a native speaker, I have a strong grasp of grammar, a broad vocabulary, and real conversational experience. Much of my extended family speaks Spanish as well, which has further strengthened my comfort with the language. As a tutor, I bring professionalism, patience, and a supportive attitude to every session. My goal is to create a comfortable, judgment-free space where students feel safe asking questions, practicing new skills, and making mistakes as they learn. I work hard to tailor each lesson to the student’s needs, whether that means breaking down a science topic step by step or helping them form clear, grammatically correct sentences in Spanish.

About the lesson

As a tutor, I focus on creating a welcoming, judgment-free environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and learning at their own pace. My goal is to help each student build confidence, stay curious, and truly understand the material rather than just memorize it.

My approach is patient, clear, and flexible. If a student brings a specific lesson or topic they’re struggling with, I break it down into a mini-lecture that highlights the key ideas in a simple, understandable way. After that, we work through examples together so the student can practice applying what they learned—especially helpful for science topics that require problem-solving and step-by-step thinking.

For Spanish, I focus on pronunciation, basic grammar, and forming correct sentences, working at a pace that feels comfortable for younger learners who are just starting out.
