About Diego
Hi, I’m Diego! As a college essay tutor of 3+ years, I enjoy helping students tell their story. I specialize in connecting STEM and pre-med students with their creative side and finding their unique voice. After working as an undergrad Admissions Officer at Johns Hopkins for over a year, I’ve seen first-hand what works and what doesn’t, and I can help you avoid common pitfalls and show you how to stand out from the crowd. I’ve seen how an outstanding personal essay can elevate a college application that might’ve otherwise gotten lost in the pack. I will guide you through the entire process, from brainstorming to proofreading.
A little bit about my background: I was a double major in Molecular & Cellular Biology and Philosophy at Johns Hopkins, earning a 3.9 GPA and departmental honors in both. As a dual-major in STEM and humanities, I developed experience with both analytical and creative writing. Some highlights include a 50+ page Honors Thesis in philosophy and a successful grant application to fund original bioinformatics research. I tutored in the Writing Center during my junior and senior years, before working in the Admissions Office post-graduation. As an Admissions Officer, I was responsible for conducting recruitment, reviewing undergraduate applications, and handling internal relations with administrators.
Outside of being a tutor, I worked as a biostatistics researcher at the NIH before starting my own company. I’ve experienced first-hand how attending a top-ten university can have a profound impact on your professional success, and I want to help give others that same opportunity. In the past, I’ve worked closely with students to engineer their college essays to perfection, helping them get into schools like the following: Yale, Harvard, Stanford, Columbia, Johns Hopkins, Brown, Dartmouth, UCLA, and Northwestern. I know it can be stressful, but college application season is a pivotal time in your high school career. I look forward to helping you nail it!
