About Lauren
Hi all! I am a bilingual (English and Spanish) teacher with extensive experience in language education. I received my Bachelor's degree from Furman University in Spanish, Linguistics and Teaching ESOL. I also received my TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) certification in December 2020. During university, I tutored at an after-school program helping Spanish students with English language acquisition. I also completed a virtual 3 month internship where I taught English to Chilean high-school students using a flipped classroom model. Last year, I spent 5 months working as an English teacher in Spain in a 1st, 4th, and 6th grade classroom. While in Spain, I also spent over 10 hours teaching private lessons each week to students aged 6-40. I currently work as a guide at a Montessori school in a Spanish immersion classroom.

As a Spanish student once myself, I know what it's like to acquire a language that is not your own. As a Spanish student during university, I had extensive instruction in Spanish literature and linguistics and am well-versed in the variation in Spanish throughout the Spanish-speaking world. Additionally, the stint in spent in Spain solidified my fluency and allowed me develop pronunciation and vocabulary of a native. Finally, my knowledge of language acquisition has equipped me with the skills to teach a foreign language in the most effective manner.
