About Rui

Any teacher, of course, has been a student. I remember that I abhorred the unattractive way in which my teachers introduced me to music theory or my first instrument. How they made me prioritize the perfection of my performance instead of nurturing (first of all) the taste for music so that, instead of I HAVE to know, I WANTED to know. Learning is born out of curiosity. If you are afraid to start learning the guitar or ukulele because you think it is too difficult or maybe you have no way, don't worry. I am here to show you that this road is not that difficult to travel. :)

About the lesson

My name is Rui Taipa, I am a licensed teacher in Music Education at the Escola Superior de Educação de Bragança (IPB) and a professional musician as a singer and interpreter. My path as a singer starts in 2012 when I win a band contest, even though I am alone on stage with a guitar and a microphone. With the recording in the studio that constituted the 1st prize, I recorded my first EP "Meia Dúzia de Histórias", released in 2014. Later, in 2016 I joined musician friends and formed a band to create my first album of his name " yell ". On this record I managed to kill the curiosity of what it would be like to have a rock band, even if it was something artificial, created for that one purpose. Since I found myself accompanied by more musicians, it has rarely made sense to be alone on stage. Therefore, since the release of my first album, I have performed in various formations, through the show and the space. At the same time that I was building my path as a singer, I was also part of a big band in which I was a vocalist. Later, I am invited to join the Porto Jazz Orchestra, with the same purpose and it remains so today. During the pandemic, I recorded an EP at home, something I wanted to have done for a long time but only now with the time and material available was it possible for me. It's called "Sala Calada". All of my work is available on the most popular streaming platforms. As a teacher, I count on 4 years of activity in AEC and private lessons in guitar and ukulele, and due to incompatible schedules, I had to choose to quit this activity about a year and a half ago. At this moment, having all the conditions and time to teach again and being able to do it from home, I decided to embrace the teaching area again.
