About Maria Lisa

Ciao! I am a GTCS (General Teaching Council for Scotland) registered Spanish and Italian teacher and I work in a High School. I am very passionate about teaching, happy to live in Glasgow and share my love for languages and culture with YOU! I am a qualified Italian teacher in Italy as well as I undertook DITALS 2, the equivalent of CELTA for Italian language. Here, I teach Italian to adults, university students and children and I teach Spanish in a high School. I can also tutor for Latin language and Literature as I studied it for many years and I used to tutor (very successfully) many students in Italy. I worked as a lecturer at the University of Turin and as a childhood educator. This gave me the chance to understand the importance of interpreting learners’ concepts for creating a more effective educational environment and to stimulate original points of view. My passion for languages led me travelling, living and studying in different countries and I've learnt that languages can bridge differences between cultures. This belief has been the reason why I studied Comparative Literature and Human Rights for my Master's Degrees. If I had to describe myself in a sentence, I would choose the Walt Whitman’s words, I am large, I contain multitudes, because they express my ethos on the way to live, teach and learn

About the lesson

I love teaching my language because it consists of efforts to hand my culture over, to develop a passion and promote understanding between people from different cultural backgrounds. I always try to detect the best ways to approach every student and to develop an educational agreement that is not fixed but changeable to the learners’ needs.
