About Tong

I am passionate about teaching and truly listening to my students to help them achieve their language goals. Raised in China and living in New Zealand for the past decade, I offer native fluency combined with 5 years of tutoring experience for all ages and levels.

My 60-minute lessons focus on practical immersion through structured materials, interactive activities, and rich cultural discussions. As an avid enthusiast of Chinese literature, cinema, TV dramas, and traditional music (I play the pipa!), I bring the language to life in a way that is engaging, insightful, and tailored to you.

About the lesson

Having grown up in China and lived in New Zealand for the past 10 years, I bring a native understanding and deep cultural insight to my teaching. Over the last 5 years, I’ve tutored students of all age groups and skill levels—from complete beginners to those preparing to move to China.

I believe maximum immersion is key to mastering a language. My lessons—typically 60 minutes—are structured around thematic topics using a combination of curated textbooks, workbooks, interactive games, and engaging real-world activities to make learning both practical and fun.
