About Diya

Hi, I'm Diya! I'm a third-year Chemistry student at the University of Edinburgh, having achieved A*A*A at A-level, including Chemistry and Maths.

I decided to start tutoring because I know how much of a difference the right support can make and am genuinely passionate about helping young people build confidence! Having sat GCSEs and A-levels myself relatively recently, I understand exactly what examiners are looking for and where students commonly lose marks, and I use this to help my students approach their exams strategically as well as academically.

I love working with young people, and after graduating I'm hoping to become a teacher — so tutoring is not just a job for me, but something I'm genuinely passionate about and want to build a career around.

Outside of my studies, I play football for my university team, which has taught me a lot about discipline, teamwork, and staying motivated even when things get tough — qualities I try to bring into my tutoring too. I also genuinely enjoy science outside of the classroom, and love finding ways to connect what students are learning to the real world, which I think makes lessons more memorable and engaging.

I take tutoring seriously and prepare thoroughly for every lesson, tailoring materials to each student's exam board and specific needs. I'm looking forward to hearing from you and helping you succeed!

About the lesson

Each lesson is adapted to the individual student — their level, learning style, and the areas they find most challenging. I create a warm, patient environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes.

Lessons typically run for 1 hour, though this can be adjusted depending on the student's needs and how they're finding the pace.

Alongside my Chemistry degree, I completed a month-long teaching internship at a school in London, where I worked with students of a wide range of abilities and spent a significant amount of time delivering one-on-one support. This gave me hands-on experience adapting my explanations to different students and identifying exactly where each one needed the most help.

I work with GCSE/A-level students in Chemistry and GCSE students across Maths, Biology, Physics and Geography. This includes students looking to consolidate their understanding and those aiming for top grades who want extra stretch and challenge.
