About Heeyoung

안녕하세요! Hello! I'm Heeyoung Kim, a certified Korean teacher based in Kuala Lumpur. You can call me Lauren!

I hold a government-issued Level 2 Korean Language Teaching Certificate, and I have taught Korean one-on-one for about a year and a half. I'm also completing a master's degree in Korean Studies, focusing on Korean language education. My research is about giving feedback that truly helps learners.

I'm a language learner myself. I learned English as an adult, so I know the hard days and the happy days of this journey. I'll be your teacher, and your learning partner.

About the lesson

I teach adult learners, one-on-one only, fully online.

Every lesson is built around you: your level, your goals, your interests. For beginners, we start with pronunciation and core grammar, with lots of guided speaking. You will speak Korean from day one. For intermediate learners, we focus on natural conversation, accurate grammar (particles, verb endings, honorifics), and expressions Koreans really use.

In my lessons, you speak a lot, and mistakes are completely fine. That's how everyone learns a language. We focus on real conversation, and your Korean gets more accurate naturally, without pressure or criticism. Each lesson has a clear focus, and we build on what you learned before, so you can actually feel your progress. All learning materials are included. I prepare them for you, matched to your level and goals, so there is no textbook to buy.

Lessons are held on Zoom. Your first lesson (30 minutes) is free: we check your level and plan your learning together. Message me with your level and goals!
