• When and why did you develop an interest in your chosen field?

  As a native Korean speaker, I majored in education and Korean language education in university and graduate school and worked as a teacher in Korea. I moved to Canada in 2017 and started my practice as a Korean tutor in 2019, and I started teaching Korean to elementary school students as a Korean language instructor at the school board in 2021.
  
  Learning a new language is a huge asset in our lives and will open the door to our future. I believe that teaching Korean to others who want to learn Korean and culture is a great way to devote myself to Korean-Canadian society as a Korean language teacher.

• What makes you passionate about your subject?

  Since I came to Canada, my passion for teaching Korean has grown. I started studying Korean language education as a foreign language at university to improve my teaching skills.
  
  Also, I have completed the courses of the Korean School Teacher Certification Program implemented by the Overseas Korean Agency. I do my best to apply various effective teaching methods in my class.

• What do you like about tutoring? What makes you a "Superprof"?

  I love teaching, helping others, and interacting with others. I think a lot of teaching experience has made me more patient and thoughtful, and I sincerely try to understand others. It is natural to make some mistakes while learning a new language, and I know I can encourage students to practice more and achieve their goals during their learning journey.
  
  I value every minute of planning lessons, making PPT as a visual aid and tutoring. Even if I teach the same topic, I customize my lesson plan according to my student's situation and their goals, preferences, and strengths.
  
  When my students are satisfied with their achievements and developments, I feel very rewarding and fulfilling.

• Do you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you? Please explain.

  One of my role models is my university professor, who has lots of teaching experience for non-native speakers. I focused on my professor's lectures on how to teach the Korean language to non-native speakers, which included her various teaching experiences. I completed the practicum with her, including observing her classes, making some lesson plans, and teaching in a model class. It helped me develop lesson plans and improve my teaching skills for my students and classes.
  
  Also, my professor emphasized that you should teach what the students want to learn, not what you want to teach, and let the students speak more instead of a long speech of a teacher. During the tutoring sessions, I keep these things in mind to teach the Korean language from a student-centered perspective.

• What are your keys to success?

  During my teaching career, I think I am so lucky to have those wonderful students who trust me, practice with me, and ask questions to improve their Korean skills.
  
  I think my success is directly related to my student's success. I could say this to those who want to succeed in the Korean language learning journey.
  
  Firstly, invest your time in what you are interested in.
  
  Secondly, practice and review what you learned.
  
  Lastly, when you feel stuck, find the right person to help you and guide you.
  
  I keep studying and reviewing my sessions to be a professional Korean teacher who can guide the student's learning journey and help them achieve their goals quickly and efficiently. I would like to be on your learning journey!!
