About Xinyi

My name is Xinyi, and I come from Sichuan, the home of the giant panda. I am very passionate about teaching and learning languages. I hold a bachelor's and master's degree in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages，and I hold the Certificate for Teachers of Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages. I have one year of online teaching experience and three years of on-site teaching experience（Confucius Institute in the University of Latvia）. My students have ranged in age from 3 to 50 years old, come from various countries, and have diverse cultural backgrounds. I am skilled at developing personalized teaching plans based on students' different needs and learning styles, helping them master Chinese in a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. In my teaching, I focus on cultivating students' language communication skills and cultural understanding, utilizing diverse teaching methods such as interactive classes, gamified learning, and multimedia resources to enhance students' learning interest and effectiveness. I can effectively adapt my teaching methods to the different characteristics of online and offline classes and manage both types of classrooms effectively. During my teaching, my students have successfully passed HSK Levels 1, 2, and 3 exams, and have won awards in Chinese cultural knowledge competitions and the Chinese Bridge competition. I enjoy learning about different cultures, and I like doing handicrafts such as pottery and crochet. I also enjoy traveling, hiking, photography, and cooking.

About the lesson

My approach is grounded in “Context-First Acquisition” — a framework where language is never taught in isolation. Instead of memorizing vocabulary lists, we explore words and structures through culturally-rich narratives, real-life scenarios, and multimedia immersion.
I integrate:

Metacognitive Strategies: I guide you to reflect on how you learn best, helping you develop personalized language-learning habits that last beyond our sessions.
