About Kashif Quamar

I worked on dynamic bridge analysis and contributed to a project on bridge structural health monitoring at the Bridge Engineering and Structures Division, CSIR-Central Road Research Institute in New Delhi (India). I used Incremental Dynamic Analysis to study the reliability of bridge corridors for my PhD dissertation. The study included bridge classification based on structural arrangement, site seismic hazard assessment, incremental dynamic analysis of bridges, uncertainty estimation, derivation of fragility functions, and reliability indices estimation. The probable performance of bridges are the evaluated considering presence of different intersections and available safety margins are evaluated. The study considers the consequences of bridge failures in terms of traffic downtime, economic losses, bridge repair and replacement costs, and life cost. Based on my Doctoral study, I have published 9 research papers (one in SCI journal, one SJR journal and 7 in International conferences and symposiums). And, following the submission of my PhD Thesis, I translated my work into financial terms by calculating its "Value of Information." A research paper on the value of information has been submitted and is being considered for
publication.
In addition to my PhD thesis work, I worked at CSIR-CRRI on bridge structural health monitoring (SHM). I went to bridge sites and took vibration measurements (using National Instruments modules cDAQ and OROS) in ambient traffic conditions at various stages of bridge service life (Newly constructed and damaged ones). In the lab, the observed data was analysed using Artemis and Labview software. The study combined SHM with FEM analysis to detect damage.
