About Aayushi
I’m Aayushi, a PhD candidate in History at the University of Cambridge, where my research explores the history of women, religion, and visual culture in colonial India. I hold an MPhil in Visual, Material and Museum Anthropology from the University of Oxford, where I graduated with Distinction, and a First Class BA (Hons) in Photography from the University of Edinburgh.
Alongside my research, I have extensive experience teaching and supporting undergraduate students at Cambridge and internationally. Through the Global History Lab, I have taught students at universities in Bangladesh and Lebanon, helping them develop their historical knowledge, research skills, and confidence in academic writing. I have also supervised undergraduate students at Cambridge, providing individualised feedback and guidance on their essays.
I am passionate about the humanities and believe that studying History, Anthropology, Art History, and Religion can open up exciting new ways of understanding the world. I enjoy working with students of different abilities and backgrounds and aim to create a welcoming, supportive environment in which they feel comfortable asking questions, developing their ideas, and challenging themselves. My goal is to help students achieve their academic ambitions while fostering a genuine and lasting interest in the subjects they study.

My approach to tutoring is student-centred, engaging, and tailored to each student's individual needs, interests, and learning style. I aim to make the humanities accessible and exciting, and encourage students to develop their curiosity, think critically, and become confident, independent learners.
My lessons combine discussion, close analysis of sources and texts, and structured activities designed to develop subject knowledge and analytical skills. I place particular emphasis on essay writing, argumentation, and examination techniques, helping students learn how to construct clear, persuasive arguments and communicate their ideas effectively. Lessons are typically 60 minutes long, although this can be adjusted according to individual needs.
