About Daniel
I am a Brazilian hip-hop artist, educator and PhD researcher at the University of São Paulo (USP), with international academic experience as a visiting scholar at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC).
For more than a decade, I have worked at the intersection of hip-hop, education and Afro-diasporic creativity. I created Jornada do MC, a long-term educational project focused on rhyme, freestyle, songwriting and performance, and worked as an artist-educator at EMIA – Escola Municipal de Iniciação Artística, one of São Paulo’s leading public arts education programs.
I also work as a consultant for Brazil’s National School of Hip-Hop, connected to the Ministry of Education, contributing to the development of hip-hop pedagogy and educational policy.
My academic research and artistic practice grow from the same belief: hip-hop is not only music—it is knowledge, language, memory and a powerful space for creating new worlds.

My lessons are centered on Afro-diasporic creativity. More than mastering English, Spanish or Portuguese, I am interested in helping each student discover how rhythm, language, memory, identity and personal experience can become original artistic expression.
Through rap, songwriting, rhyme, freestyle, flow and performance, students explore their own creative voice while engaging with the musical and cultural connections that move across Africa, Brazil, the Caribbean, Latin America and the United States.
My teaching approach combines artistic practice, education and research. Exercises may involve writing, improvisation, rhythmic experimentation, listening, interpretation and performance, always adapting the process to the student's experience and artistic goals.
You do not need to be fluent in a particular language or already know how to rap. You can create in English, Portuguese, Spanish, or move between languages. What matters most is developing your imagination, musicality, confidence and the ability to turn your own world into art.
