About Robyn

Hi, I’m Robyn, a PhD candidate in Biomedical Science and a passionate researcher focused on understanding the biology of Alzheimer’s disease. My work explores how molecular changes in the brain contribute to neurodegeneration, and I’m especially interested in the intersections of DNA damage and neuropathology. I’m driven by both scientific curiosity and a deep commitment to improving human health through research. Outside the lab, I enjoy staying active and creative. I have a strong interest in movement and fitness, especially gymnastics-inspired training, and I love the mental and physical challenge of building strength and mastering new skills. I’m also someone who values growth, balance, and helping others tap into their potential. Whether through science, mentorship, or just sharing what I’ve learned, I find fulfillment in making meaningful connections and supporting people in reaching their goals.

About the lesson

As a Biomedical Science PhD candidate with extensive tutoring experience in chemistry, biology, genetics, and related science disciplines, I bring both subject mastery and a personalized teaching approach to each student.

I tutor high school students (including AP and honors science classes), undergraduates in introductory to advanced college-level biology, chemistry, and genetics, and even students preparing for exams like the MCAT. Whether someone needs help passing a tough class, wants to deepen their understanding, or is preparing for a career in science or healthcare, I provide focused, supportive, and engaging instruction.

My teaching method is rooted in clarity, active engagement, and critical thinking. I break complex topics into understandable parts, use analogies to make abstract ideas relatable, and constantly assess student understanding through questions and dialogue. I emphasize not just memorization but deep comprehension, encouraging students to ask "why" and "how" at every step. I also help students develop study strategies and problem-solving skills they can carry into other classes.

A typical session begins with a check-in on prior material and any new challenges. I then introduce or review a core concept using visual aids or real-world examples. From there, we work through relevant problems or questions together, with increasing levels of independence. I close each session by summarizing key points and ensuring the student leaves with clear takeaways and next steps.

My background as an active researcher in biomedical science allows me to connect textbook concepts to cutting-edge science, making lessons more relevant and inspiring. I bring empathy, patience, and enthusiasm to every session, and I’m deeply invested in each student’s progress. I also have experience working with students from diverse educational backgrounds, including those who may struggle with confidence in science.
