Hi, I’m Narisa! I recently graduated from Columbia University with a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering and from Drew University with a B.S. in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology. My background includes hands-on lab research, medical device prototyping, thesis writing, and coding experience (MATLAB, R) with a strong passion for teaching and mentorship. I specialize in helping students build confidence in biology, chemistry, math, and engineering fundamentals by breaking down complex topics into clear, step-by-step lessons. I’ve mentored peers, guiding them through subjects like molecular biology, physiology, biostatistics, and engineering design. I also bring experience with 3D design tools like Fusion360, offering a unique perspective that connects theory with real-world applications. As a tutor, I believe learning is most powerful when students are actively engaged in the process. My approach is patient, supportive, and step-by-step, designed to help each student build both skills and confidence. I start by understanding how you learn best - whether that’s through visuals, examples, problem-solving, or hands-on practice problem, and then tailor lessons to fit your style.

A typical lesson begins with a quick check-in on what you’re working on, followed by guided practice where you attempt problems or concepts first. I encourage students to try working through the material on their own so I can see their thinking process. Instead of giving the answer right away, I ask guiding questions and provide clues until the solution becomes clear. This way, students develop independence, problem-solving ability, and lasting confidence.

My lessons are ideal for middle school, high school, and college students who want extra support in STEM subjects like biology, chemistry, math, statistics, research methods, or engineering design.
