About Katerina
Hello!
I am a Biochemistry student at Imperial College London. Having scored 42 points in the IB, I believe I could provide useful study tips on how to reach your full potential. I have definitely made some mistakes, and looking back, there are many things I would do differently. I can help you with anything from the IB Biology and Chemistry HL curricula as well as topics covered in SL Mathematics. In case of IB History, I covered The move to global war, Authoritarian States and Superpower Tensions. I believe I could provide some guidance in choosing a good IA and EE topics in the sciences. Additionally, we can have a chat about your TOK essay and presentation, too. In case you are an A-levels or GCSE student, I believe I could help you explain study material since the IB curriculum is very similar.
Since I study Biochemistry, I could provide insights into the field of sciences. When I study I find it very useful to first learn from a textbook and then look for studies and articles focusing on the subject. That way I can understand the implications and relevance of what I'm learning. Moreover, it makes studying more interesting and effective since I definitely remember much more information than if I only kept reading textbooks.

I believe practice is key, therefore I would ask students to do problems prior to our lessons. During our lessons we would focus on problematic areas. I would break down individual steps of a problem and, if possible, provide alternative routes to the result. Personally I find it very pleasing to look back at something I found difficult some time ago and realise it is no longer a challenge. Therefore, I will keep a list of problems a student has struggled with, and from time to time I would come back to them, make the student do them again and hopefully see progress.
