About the lesson

I am a Westmont College graduate with my Bachelor's of Arts in Spanish. I am fluent in Spanish meaning I can read, write, and speak in the indicated language.
I have taught two different ESL (English as a Second Language) classes to Spanish speaking immigrants.
I teach Spanish in the same way in which I learned Spanish. I do this because it worked for me, so it makes sense to do the same for my own students. I begin the class with some sort of warm-up activity such as listening to a song in the desired language. Then, I pick one lesson to teach per day. I make powerpoints, I create my own handouts, and I put the needs of my students above completing a lesson for the day. This means that I may have a plan ahead of time of what I want to teach, but if students are having difficulty, then I make changes. So, I ensure that all of my students understand what is being taught and do not move on until this point. I have given homework packets in the past with the understanding that everyone is busy with school, work, etc. This means that while I think homework is important, I understand that students may not always have time to complete the assignment. I have had my students work in pairs or groups in order to demonstrate their understanding of a concept. I do this because it shows me that they truly grasped the concept and can now put it into action. I talk a lot with my students during class so as to create an active learning environment.
I am a tutor whose passion is Spanish. I love Spanish and I am a tutor that is excited about your learning.

Details

My rate is the same no matter the student's current Spanish level. I do charge a travel fee for meeting at a public location, which depends upon the distance I need to travel. If you need to cancel, you must do so 24 hours in advance. Otherwise, you will be charged the normal rate for the lesson that you missed.
