About Catherine

A native Spanish speaker with over 7 years experience tutoring GCSE, A-Level, IB and Business Spanish.

I am extremely familiar with the course structures, exams, and have the course books and extra materials to make lessons productive and fun. I have seen my students go from an average of Cs in exams to As. Helping build their confidence.

Lessons follow the GCSE/ A-Level/ IB/ DELE course structure, to provide the most support and exam coaching. I also make sure lessons are fun too, with games, music, film, and speaking activities.

I was born in London, and grew up in Spain and Costa Rica. In Costa Rica I completed IB and came back to London for university. While taking my Spanish degree at Kings, I started tutoring; working with all age ranges from kids to adult learners, mostly focused on CGSE, A-Level and IB Spanish students.

I currently work in the city in an investment firm, and in the office have previously run a lunchtime Spanish class, focused on business Spanish. So adult learners please do get in touch!

She has run different levels of classes, includes activities to practise language in a practical way and organises great end of term activity.

Catherine taught Spanish to our daughter for AS level (year 12). We asked her to concentrate particularly on spoken Spanish and Catherine put a lot of thought into this. Her lessons were always carefully planned beforehand and comprised a series of tasks that built up our daughter's competence and confidence. Catherine chose tasks and topics for discussion that were relevant to the course our daughter was studying and also gave good advice on how to deal with unexpected questions and ensuring that conversational rather than textbook Spanish was used.
