About Minkyu

Hi! I’m Minkyu — born in South Korea, raised overseas, and lucky enough to have lived in both worlds. After completing my military service in Korea, I gained a deep appreciation for the country’s traditions, discipline, and humor. At the same time, years spent abroad gave me a global perspective and an easy, natural way of connecting with people from different cultures. Professionally, I’ve worked for over a decade at top global companies — ON Semiconductor, Skyworks Solutions, and Renesas Electronics — all recognized by Forbes and Fortune for their innovation and excellence. Working with people from around the world has taught me how communication truly bridges culture — and that’s exactly the spirit I bring to my Korean lessons. I still remember helping one of my colleagues learn just enough Korean to impress his team during a business trip to Seoul — the joy and confidence on his face said it all. That moment made me realize how learning a language can open real human doors. My goal is to make Korean approachable, professional, and fun. Whether you’re a complete beginner, a K-culture enthusiast, or a professional aiming to connect with Korean clients, I’ll guide you with patience, humor, and practical insight from both sides of the culture.

About the lesson

About my lessons: Are you a professional, student, or traveler who wants to speak Korean confidently in real conversations — not just textbooks? Many learners look for a tutor who can help them: 1) Break through speaking/shyness blocks 2) Understand cultural nuance (business etiquette, idioms) 3) Prepare for travel, work, interviews, or K-drama enjoyment 4) Learn in a way that fits a busy schedule My lessons are custom-tailored to your goals and background. We begin by identifying your top priorities (speaking? business? reading/writing? culture?), then structure each session around meaningful, real-life dialogues rather than rote drills. In a typical lesson: 1) Quick warm-up (conversation, review) 2) Focus on one or two target phrases or grammar points 3) Role-plays or scenario practice (office meeting, travel, social chat) 4) Cultural insight and nuance (etiquette, idioms, Korean mindset) 5) Personalized feedback + study plan to build momentum What sets me apart: with 11 years in global tech firms, I’ve collaborated with people from diverse backgrounds. I deeply understand cross-cultural communication and the real-world demands professionals face. Being bilingual and having lived both abroad and in Korea, I can explain things in English or Korean depending on your comfort. Whether you’re a beginner or aiming to polish business Korean, we’ll build your confidence, fluency, and cultural understanding in a way that’s practical and perfectly aligned with your goals.
