About Eric

As a first-generation Italian American, I bring both personal experience and a unique perspective to tutoring. Having firsthand knowledge of the difficulties of learning and managing two languages, I can guide students with understanding and practical guidance. I prepare lessons tailored to each student's specific goals. Each class will involve steady progression, making the learning process enjoyable and not feel like a task. I am confident in adapting to each student's individual learning pace and style to allow for the fastest and most effective methods of learning. Students can rest assured that I provide not only linguistic knowledge but also cultural insight and practical application. My goal is to create a positive environment where mistakes are viewed as opportunities for improvement and where every student leaves each class more confident. I lead my students to believe in the attainability of their goals.

About the lesson

My teaching style focused on establishing a welcoming and encouraging space for students to practice and develop with confidence. Coming from a first-generation Italian-American background, I recognize the difficulties of navigating two languages and apply that knowledge to guide my instructions.

My primary method is listening practice with real conversation practice. To reduce accents, I use repetition, phonetic practice, and listening exercises. In teaching Italian, I emphasize speaking and listening skills first, using dialogues and role-playing to help students understand what they need assistance with.

Each session will begin with a warm-up review of previously taught material. The first lesson will primarily consist of a questionnaire for the student, followed by rigorous practice in either listening or pronunciation. We will then proceed with a conversation tailored to the learner's objectives, and conclude with a review and specific practice for the student to continue throughout the week.

What sets me apart is my bilingual upbringing and life experience in acquiring a second language. With students who are Italians who want to reduce their English accent it is best for me if they already have a somewhat good understanding of what they need help with, and when it comes to students wanting to learn Italian, I can take anyone of any level; however, it would be best to know somewhat already how to speak and understand Italian, so that we can start right away with daily conversational practice to enhance their skills.
