Super Tutor

Makenna is one of our best Sign language tutors. High-quality profile, qualifications verified, organised and responsive to lesson requests, and appreciated by their students.

About Makenna

My name is Makenna! I have been using ASL for 5 years, and I am excited to help students practice and learn conversational skills!
I'm a homeschool graduate, and a volunteer at a local Microschool.
I use an easygoing approach to make students feel comfortable signing without stress, while ensuring practicing gets accomplished.

About the lesson

I teach beginner American Sign Language. I will also sign with students about different topics (school, hobbies, etc.) and help them expand their vocabulary and have longer conversations in ASL. There will also be time for fingerspelling practice, as I have found that this can be incredibly helpful in a student's ASL journey.

Reviews

All the reviews collected from students are verified by our team. They are therefore reliable and correspond to a real experience with Makenna.

Makenna is one of the most confident and fluent signers I’ve ever studied with. We met in an online ASL class a few years ago and I was immediately impressed by how quickly and naturally sign language came to her. She’s continued to inspire and motivate me to grow in my own study of ASL and has only improved as I’ve gotten to know her. Her years of experience combined with maturity, patience, and excellent communication skills make her a perfect tutor, and I was so happy to discover she started teaching! She’s calming, kind, good for a laugh, and a wonderful addition to both the teaching and ASL communities alike. Any student privileged enough to learn from her will gain crucial knowledge and vocabulary, learn and apply skills, build confidence, and excel in sign language!

Makenna is very fluent and skilled in American Sign Language. Over the years, I have learned a lot from signing with her, and she has even shown me how to sign songs in ASL. I have never met anyone more proficient in finger spelling! Makenna is also very thoughtful and kind. She is such a good teacher for younger kids as she assists her mom’s class and even just seeing her around my younger brother, I can’t imagine a better ASL tutor!
