About Rupert

I have always worked hard in whatever I apply myself to. I played 1st team water polo, rugby and rugby 7s in high school and got 5 distinctions in matric for finals. I struggled a lot with mathematics in high school until I got the right teacher in gr11 who showed me that mathematics is extremely easy to learn, and with effort, can be mastered. I aim to make it simple and understandable, both for myself in life, and for you with your work in mathematics!

About the lesson

My Approach to Tutoring: Mathematics can be challenging, but I believe that with the right approach, any student can grasp the concepts and even learn to enjoy the subject. My tutoring style focuses on breaking down complex ideas into simpler, more intuitive steps, helping students build a solid foundation rather than just memorizing formulas. I tailor each lesson to the student’s learning style, ensuring they fully understand the “why” behind mathematical concepts, which improves problem-solving skills and confidence. What Makes My Teaching Unique: I have always enjoyed finding easier, more effective ways to understand and apply mathematics, which I now use to help my students. Because I have experience studying university-level mathematics, statistics, and financial mathematics, I can provide deeper insights and real-world applications to make topics more engaging. Having attended Michaelhouse, I am familiar with the IEB curriculum and can guide students effectively through the syllabus. Languages I Teach In: I am proficient in English and Afrikaans. While I can assist Afrikaans-speaking students with explanations, my primary language for teaching is English.
