About Chloe
I busk and live in Barcelona, picking up my own Spanish through daily street life, real conversations, and plenty of trial and error rather than formal classroom study. Four years into teaching now, I've worked with about fifty-five students, mostly people planning to live or travel here who want practical, real-world Spanish fast. I never trained formally as a language teacher, and I'm upfront about that, because my real strength is understanding exactly what a newcomer actually needs to survive and thrive in daily conversation here. I connect particularly well with students who felt bored or discouraged by traditional classroom Spanish, since I learned everything the unconventional way myself and genuinely understand that frustration. My teaching style is relaxed, conversational, and a bit unstructured compared to more formal programs, built entirely around real usage rather than exam preparation alone. I care far more about a student confidently chatting at a market or with a fellow street performer than about grammatical perfection on paper. Watching a nervous student successfully hold their first real conversation here remains genuinely the best part of this whole job for me. If you want Spanish for actually living daily life, not just passing a test, I think we'll get along well.

I busk and live in Barcelona, so my Spanish lessons come from someone genuinely living daily life in the language, not just teaching it from a distant, disconnected textbook. We start talking from lesson one, genuinely talking, because busking taught me that real, live conversation with strangers beats years of isolated grammar drills every time. Vocabulary focuses on what you'd genuinely need living or travelling here, ordering food, chatting with fellow performers, navigating daily street life confidently and naturally. Grammar still gets covered properly, but I introduce it as it comes up naturally in real conversation rather than front-loading a wall of rules before anyone's said a single sentence. I use a lot of roleplay, pretending we're at a market, a café, meeting a fellow street musician, since that pressure of figuring it out live is exactly how I actually learned Spanish myself. Mistakes are treated as completely normal here, genuinely no big deal, since I made hundreds of embarrassing ones busking and living here and turned out fine regardless. I keep lessons loose and conversational rather than rigidly structured, adjusting constantly based on what a student actually wants to talk about that day. This is Spanish for actually living daily life here, not for passing a written exam somewhere. Every lesson stays genuinely practical and street-smart throughout.
