About Julia
I was a Peer Tutor for science, math, biology and chemistry throughout high school. I assisted 2 students on average per semester through one on one sessions once a week that included reviewing concepts, completing difficult homework problems, and test or exam prep. Having the student perspective while tutoring these individuals, and being able to grow as a tutor throughout high school provided the opportunity for me to develop and refine my teaching methods and learn how to adapt to the specific learning styles of different students.

I hope to create an open and safe environment so that students are comfortable asking questions and using their curiosity as a learning tool. Science and biology can be a lot of memorization and complex concepts. However, when it is related to real-world examples that allow students to conceptualize course content, memorizing becomes understanding and complex mechanisms can be worked through.
