About Matthew
I hold master's degrees in political science and social studies education from UGA and Columbia University, respectively, I have taught high school history and civics & economics for the last 8 years. I have won several teaching awards, including a James Madison Fellowship (for teaching the US Constitution) and an Academy for Teachers Fellowship. Among my AP students, I have an average score of a 3.75, with many of my students earning 5s. As a teacher, I love getting students out of the class and excited about social studies; I have taken students to the US Supreme Court, the UN, Congress, City Hall, and NPR.

I would love to work with you on middle/high school US history or government & economics, or undergraduate-level political science. I am also happy to help with essay-writing and projects. My first goal as a teacher is to get you excited about the subject. Depending on your age and understanding of the subject, we can either practice key skills and go over important concepts, or we engage in discussion and debate to improve your analytical skills and to make your writing better.
