About Joost
With over 20 years of professional experience in the music industry, my journey has been both enriching and diverse. I had the wonderful opportunity to study at Leeds College of Music (now Leeds Conservatoire) from 2005-2008, where I learned from the incredible drummers Tony Mann and Dave Walsh. Graduating with a 1st class BA (Hons) degree in Music (Jazz Studies), I have since travelled the world, playing with a range of amazing artists such as Abstract Orchestra, Kefaya, The Sorcerers, Chip Wickham, Gotts Street Park, John Carroll Kirby, Eddie Chacon, Nubiyan Twist, Submotion Orchestra, Celeste, Pip Millet, Charlotte Dos Santos, and Sarathy Korwar, to name a few. My career has allowed me to perform at some of the world's most prestigious festivals, including Glastonbury, Fuji Rock in Japan, Latitude, BST, Love Supreme, and multiple WOMAD festivals in the UK, Australia, New Zealand, and Spain. Additionally, I’ve had the honour of appearing on iconic shows like "Later... with Jools Holland" and "BBC Radio 4's Loose Ends." I have also had a wealth of experience in various studios, such as Real World, ATA, Echo Zoo, LightShip, Chairworks and SAE Institute among others, recording drums for a huge array of different artists. My playing has featured on tracks with Illa J, MF Doom, Slum Village and in several different productions globally including Netflix's "Chicken Run 2: Dawn of the Nugget", Channel 4's "We Are Ladyparts" and Akram Kahn's "Chotto Xenos".
