About Rachel
Hello, I am a director for stage + screen, dramaturg and artist + curator of other happenings.
Rachel is a working class artist with a wide ranging artistic practice that finds commonality in where movement, text and politics meet movement and feeling. Class identity and intersectional class politics are consistent lenses that Rachel brings to her work.
The breadth of Rachel’s directing work spans “ambitious, stereotype-smashing” reimaginings of classic texts (The Stage) and dynamic collaborations with emerging and established writers from the UK, Ireland, Kosovo, and Afghanistan. Throughout her career, Rachel has forged a distinctive, award-winning praxis that fuses devised theatre with rigorous textual exploration.
In 2025 Rachel founded Verve, a cross-disciplinary company with a commitment to authentic and radical artistic processes, the first Verve projects will be announced in the Spring of 2026.
Rachel was Creative Associate at Clean Break (2022-2024) working with the artistic leadership team and across projects as a director, dramaturg and facilitator with the Royal Court, National Theatre, LIFT and academic partners.
Prior to that Rachel was co-Artistic Director of multi award-winning international ensemble The Faction (2016-2022) presenting five critically acclaimed repertory seasons, UK mid-scale tours, international engagements and major commissions.
Rachel has been commissioned by the British Council Lebanon, European Union National Institutes for Culture, AUB, The Lowry and New Diorama Theatre and presented further work at Wilton's Music Hall, Brixton House, Snape Maltings, Stephen Joseph Theatre, Al Madina Theatre and Zoukak Theatre Beirut, Theatre 503, Southwark Playhouse, Arcola Theatre and more.
Rachel is an experienced practitioner at drama schools including CSSD, East15, LAMDA, Mountview, RADA, Royal Welsh College and YATI.
Rachel is a Trustee of NSDF, and former Trustee for New Diorama (2013-2021). She is a Lincoln Center Directors Lab alumni and former Resident Assistant Director at the Almeida Theatre.
Rachel recently completed an MA Art+Politics at Goldsmiths University.
Currently Rachel is Artistic Associate on The Talented Mr Ripley (UK no1 Tour); as a director in development with a new literary adaptation and as a dramaturg working with Titlola Dawudu, Amelia Donkor and Demi Wilson-White.
