About Freya
I am about to start my 4th year studying at RNCM on the prestigious 'joint course' with the UoM, studying composition with Emily Howard. Before this I worked in a school as Musician in residence teaching composition classes and music theory as well as running some ensembles. My ensemble Discord/Datcord performed at the Royal Albert Hall in 2017 as art of Music For Youth. I was a member of the NYO composition section from 2014-2016 and was principal composer in my third year. For my A levels I studied Music, English and Philosophy &Ethics and was awarded grades of A,A,B. In addition to this I have grade 8s in Clarinet, Percussion and Piano. I have also taught one to one piano lessons.

I tailor my teaching method to each student, and we would discuss at the start what you would like to get out of lessons. I aim for an approach that focuses on one broad topic at a time (eg. Harmony, rhythm, contour, tension structure etc.) And through this can work out where each student may need specific focus.
