About N Diana

I grew up in a jungle in Borneo, helping my mother work the land. We would forage through the forest and fish the rivers for our food. She taught me our ancestral wisdom, just as her parents taught her: to live with nature and honour its spirit. All these memories have a very special place in my soul that led me to study Biology. As well as having a degree in Biology, I also completed a master's degree in Sustainable Development at the University of Sussex.

Armed with interdisciplinary knowledge, I am passionate about making a positive impact on the world, including teaching Bahasa Indonesia and introducing my wonderful nation to the world, as well as helping others to understand Biology and Sustainable Development.

My teaching experience ranges from formal to informal settings, from international schools in Bali to private tutoring for over five years. I am confident that my interdisciplinary background will enable me to create a more holistic approach to the class and provide students with a more comprehensive and up-to-date understanding of the subject matter. I am also passionate about incorporating real-world examples from the Indonesian perspective towards the world, biology and sustainable development into my lessons to make them more interesting and relevant.

My career has subsequently been aligned with my passion towards biology, education, and writing which describes below:
• In the Biology field, I have experience of over 5 years in teaching (laboratory assistant lecturer), laboratory testing, and being a product specialist for microbiology equipment in the corporate industry setting.

• In the Education field, I was involved in K-12 International School as a natural sciences and innovation specialist. I also have been working as an Indonesian language community tutor for over 3 years.

• In the Creative Writing field, I have published two books. My writings have also been published in several anthologies in Indonesian and English. One of my writing has been primed in the TOP10 favourite texts at the Jakarta International Literary Festival in 2011, Media Indonesia and other local newspapers.
I also help individuals and businesses to achieve their goals through the power of writing and social media content (transcription/translation, blogs, microblogs, photo or video stories, etc).

• As for leadership roles, I volunteer in mentorship for young women for over 3 years now.

My upbringing was difficult, but at the same time, it was a gift because it taught me to be adaptable, learn from failure, and never give up. It also taught me to listen to myself and do my best to help others.

About the lesson

• All lesson is a 1-hour virtual meeting.

• My teaching style is casual. I prefer learner-led approaches. It will provide students with a greater opportunity to express their curiosity and experience in a pleasant and efficient learning environment.

1. Indonesian Language for beginners and all ages.
This lesson is for anyone who is a complete beginner. It will help students to understand "writing, listening, reading, spelling, pronunciation, and grammar."
All teaching materials are tailored based on student request, student learning purpose, or to the content that they are being used in daily life. This lesson also gives the student an opportunity to get to know about Indonesian culture and heritage. Get started today!

2. Biology for kids aged 4 - 10 years old.
You might wonder, how could we learn biology and other natural sciences and lab experiments online.
This lesson is designed for children who are interested in natural sciences (biology, chemistry, physics, earth sciences, etc.). I have a one-of-a-kind teaching style that allows me to conduct an entertaining and efficient natural sciences lecture (in English and/or Indonesian) in 30 minutes to an hour. Students are also welcome to bring a specific topic to class or seek my assistance with their assignments.

3. Creative Writing Journey
Meet with yourself through writing!
I have always believed that writing is a journey. It retells a story and also immortalizes the journey. Writing becomes a therapeutic way to grasp life through words.

This lesson starts with the very basics of understanding to see where we place ourselves in a world of poetry, storytelling, and transformative dialogue. The sessions are designed for anyone from an aspiring poet, and short story writer to an established novelist.

4. Sustainable Development for Adults.
Sustainable Development is an unfamiliar word to many. In this lesson, we will critically dissect and discuss the concept of sustainable development, its importance, and its implications for the future. We will explore key Sustainable Development Goals, including food, peace, healthcare, water and sanitation, economics, etc. We will also discuss some of the relevant issues of today, such as climate change, biodiversity loss, and social inequality.
