About Pragya

Pragya Jalan

I am a passionate and dedicated Montessori educator with over 10 years of experience in the field, working both offline and online with children. Throughout my career, I’ve had the opportunity to teach international students, providing personalized online lessons that reflect my deep commitment to the Montessori philosophy.

I specialize in key Montessori areas, including Practical Life, Sensorial, Language (English), Mathematics, Geography, and Culture. I believe in the principle that education should foster a love for learning, and that teaching must always be child-centered—this means creating lessons tailored to each child's individual needs and interests.

I hold the AMI Montessori International Diploma (Primary 3-6 level) and the Real School Montessori Certification for the 0-3 age group. In addition to my teaching experience, I am a volunteer with the Indian Montessori Foundation, where I contribute to social media awareness and help organize seminars. I was also involved with Youth For Seva, participating in a variety of community-driven initiatives that promote social development.

About the lesson

This Montessori-based class, guided by an AMI-certified educator, offers a comprehensive learning experience designed to nurture independence and curiosity across key subjects.

Practical Life: Students will engage in activities that promote fine and gross motor development. These activities, suggested for home practice, encourage children to take care of themselves and their environment, fostering independence and life skills.

Sensorial: Activities will help refine the senses, guiding children to better perceive and understand their surroundings through hands-on experiences.

Language: The language curriculum follows a phonetic approach, beginning with oral language work, progressing to writing, and eventually reading. Grammar will be introduced orally before focusing on the parts of speech. Worksheets and materials will be provided to reinforce learning.

Mathematics: Focused on numeracy, operations, and fractions, the math curriculum uses Montessori materials to build a strong foundation and foster a deep understanding of mathematical concepts.

Geography: The geography curriculum takes a "whole to detail" approach, starting with continents, then moving to countries, states, and capitals. In addition, students will explore landforms (such as island, peninsula and isthmus) and waterforms ( lakes, gulf and strait), helping them better understand the Earth's physical features.

Culture: Cultural lessons will introduce children to both home and outside environments. Home-related topics such as the bedroom and bathroom will be explored, alongside community settings like animals, petrol stations, and vegetable markets. The curriculum also includes cultural aspects like yoga and music instruments, broadening children's awareness of global traditions and practices.

Classes will be conducted via Google Meet, with supplementary resources and worksheets shared through Google Classroom, allowing for interactive and accessible learning from home. Along with these practical activities, I will be conducting report writing and observations to monitor progress and provide valuable feedback to both children and parents.

This well-rounded approach encourages curiosity, builds essential skills, and fosters a deep love of learning, all within the Montessori framework.
