• When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

  I have always been interested in the human body and how it works, and I really love teaching. So to be able to do both together is really a dream come true.

• Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

  Immunology is the study of the immune system and how it works, there are no end of new discoveries to be made about ourselves. I enjoy seeing the spark on a students face when they learn a new concept and really get it. Such interest and joy!

• Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

  I have many role models, but to name a few Hedy Lamarr, Greta Thunberg, Katherine Johnson and Rosalind Franklin.

• What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

  Good active listening skills, empathy and patience certainly help! The ability to break down complex ideas and share information.

• Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

  Thanks to my biology teacher, biology was my favourite subject at school.

• What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?

  There is always more to learn, cutting edge techniques and discoveries to master.

• Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

  My passion is for the subject and sharing the knowledge with young minds.

• What makes you a Superprof (besides answering this interview questions :-P) ?

  Women in science are super, we can have so many responsibilities and yet still succeed to light the way for the generation coming up behind.
