About Tammy
My teaching philosophy is helping students understand the intricacies and foundations of art, its historical context, and its meaningful place within the humanities.
I have nearly 10 years of experience in higher education and tutoring, and my teaching experience includes in-person, online, and one-to-one sessions. I am dedicated to helping my students grow to strengthen their academic skills and develop their own voice as thinkers and writers. My hope is that this will build a lasting understanding and appreciation of the humanities.

I like to make subjects easier to understand by focusing on connections instead of just memorizing facts. My approach is to help students better understand art and world history while also improving their writing and research skills. Using visual images is a big part of my lessons because they help bring meaning to historical topics and make analyzing and understanding artworks more fun.
I also help with essay writing, developing research skills, and citation formatting, and guide students in structuring and supporting their work. I focus on helping students add their own perspective and originality to their writing while keeping a strong academic style so their work feels more personal.
In lessons, we go over sources and assignments together to build clarity in ideas and work toward specific goals based on what the student needs. I adjust my methods depending on how each student learns best.
My lessons are for high school, college, and graduate students in art history and world history. Whether they’re preparing for exams, working on writing assignments, or developing thesis projects, I aim to help students feel more confident and improve their work, while also encouraging the value and enjoyment of these subjects.
