About Preston
Hello, my name is Preston! I am a second year at Arizona State University studying Cybersecurity. My interests include working on cars and taking them to shows, programming in Java, and going to the gym. Other than my hobbies, I have invested a large amount of my time in becoming proficient in math and programming. I have experience in all math subjects up to Discrete Math at a college level as well as knowledge of programming in JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and Java. I have been helping tutor students for years assisting them with a multitude of issues in and outside of the classroom so by no means am I new to this endeavor! I look forward to meeting you!

I develop student study skills, academic habits, and overall understanding of the subject being tutored by leveraging my experience with a subject to facilitate an openness to inquiries and concerns. Using personal study tools, such as Spaced Repetition, and the Freyman Technique, I can allow the student to overcome difficult hurdles through practice rather than regurgitation. I place the responsibility of learning the material on the students after providing them with the resources to learn. This enables them to develop problem-solving and critical thinking skills to find academic success in all classes including those outside of a math subject.
In my tutoring sessions, I start by inviting students to share any questions or concerns about their previous classes, assignments, or tutoring experiences. This helps me tailor the lesson to address their specific needs and clarify any misunderstandings. If there are no immediate questions, I encourage students to actively engage with their current assignments during our time together. This structured approach provides them with dedicated time to focus on their work while having the opportunity to ask questions as they arise.
