About Livia
I am a young American who has previously lived in France to work as an English language assistant in the public school system. These days I travel a lot, visiting family in New York as well as friends in London. I did my Masters at the London School of Economics, where I studied international migration and public policy. I am currently starting work on a start-up of my own that deals with the situation of refugees in Turkey. All considered, I have always enjoyed working as a teacher. Since the day I started giving private lessons to now, I have always thought of teaching as an honor. Students trust me with their learning process—a process that can change their opportunities or even their lives.

For teaching methods, it depends on the subject. But in general, I like to teach with memory games and other fun activities.
A student of English literature would prepare for each class by finishing a chapter. The class would address the chapter with interesting questions. Vocabulary words would also be presented, perhaps as a memory game.
A business / start-up student would conduct sample discussions to practice speaking in a more formal situation. I would provide e-mail documents to read. The student could write up a few responses.
There are also simple American English course requests. Oral expression and written expression are very important, either for beginners or for advanced speakers. I always try to come up with a fun course that relates to everyday life.
