About Ubong
1. I expected to do some private teaching when I graduated.
2. I teach private lessons primarily for the income.
3. I find private teaching boring.

5. I would like to teach at a college/ university.
6. Private teaching is my primary source of employment.
7. I like to teach primarily beginners.
8. I like to teach primarily advanced students.

13. I enjoy working to improve my teaching.
14. I received adequate preparation for teaching private lessons in my undergraduate
or graduate program.
15. I would have benefited from more direction on private lesson teaching in my
undergraduate or graduate program.
16. I enjoy working out ways to help students understand a particular point.
17. Good teaching technique is obvious, I did not need training.
18. A good performer will always be a good teacher.
19. I teach my students in exactly the same way my teacher taught me.
20. When a student gives up, I worry that my teaching was not good enough.
21. If students do not practice enough, I worry that this is my fault.
22. Giving private lessons improves my own performing.
23. I want private lessons to be fun for my students.
24. I want all of my students to go to competitions.
25. I teach my students to improvise – not just perform.
26. I believe in getting notes right first, and adding expression later.
27. The best way to solve a problem with a difficult passage is to keep on playing it
again and again, until it is always right.
28. I think it is important to start teaching students to read music for their very first
lesson.
29. Private teaching is a career that is valued by society.
