About Katherine

Disciplined focus defines my studio space. The rosin dust settling on a bridge tells the story of consistent, rigorous practice habits. After 13 years in professional Boston orchestras, I emphasize listening as the primary tool for growth.

Students master complex double stops and posture adjustments through disciplined repetition. We refine bowing technique, vibrato, and shifting positions to ensure structural integrity. My approach integrates rhythm and timing with ear training to build a solid foundation in classical repertoire.

About the lesson

Adjusting the scroll height sets the stage for a precise shift during our 6 minute warm up exercises. Students engage with the Bach unaccompanied sonatas and partitas as a structural and spiritual bedrock for their playing.

These 8 minute technical segments ensure that every student understands the geometry of the instrument. Drawing from 13 years of orchestral work, I guide players through nuanced musical phrasing. We examine specific tonal qualities and bow articulations to solve difficult passages. Expect a methodical environment where the architecture of the music remains the primary focus.
