About Lauran
Hi, my name is Lauran.
I'm a mathematics tutor who specializes in helping students who feel overwhelmed, behind, frustrated, or stuck in math rebuild their confidence step-by-step.
As someone with ADHD myself, I understand firsthand hwo discouraging traditional math instruction can feel. That experience shapes how I teach: with patience, clarity, structure, and an emphasis on understanding rather than pressure or memorization.
I currently tutor students from elementary math through college-level coursework, including:
- Pre-Algebra
- Algebra I & II
- Geometry
- Pre-Calculus
- College Algebra
- Calculus I & II
- Linear Algebra
- Probability & Statistics
- GED & CLEP Math Prep
My lessons focus on:
- Breaking concepts down step-by-step
- Filling foundational gaps
- Building confidence and independence
- Making math feel intuitive and approachable
I also tailor lessons to students' interests and learning styles so concepts feel more engaging and easier to understand.
Whether you want to catch up, strengthen foundations, prepare for the next school year, or finally feel confident in math again, I'd love to help.

My tutoring style is patient, systems-based, and personalized to each student's needs.
In our sessions, we work together to:
- Identify learning gaps and misunderstandings
- Break difficult concepts into manageable steps
- Practice applying concepts instead of memorizing procedures
- Build confidence through guided problem-solving
I adapt lessons to each student's pace and learning style, especially for students with ADHD, test anxiety, or difficulty in traditional classroom settings.
A typical first lesson may include:
- discussing goals and challenges
- reviewing current coursework or past material
- identifying foundational gaps
- creating a personalized learning plan
I prioritize creating a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and learning from mistakes.
Lessons can include:
- Homework support
- Test preparation
- Summer review/catch-up
- Foundations rebuilding
- Long-term academic support
- Study and problem-solving strategies
My goal is not only to help students improve grades, but to help them genuinely understand math and feel more confident approaching it independently.
